Description:
Structural design Future Garden Bergkamen Lünen

The subject of the contract is engineering services for structural design for individual objects of the project described in more detail in Section II.2.4) for the development of the core area of the IGA2027 Future Garden Bergkamen/Lünen at the Bergkamen and Lünen sites.

The award procedure covers all service phases (basic services and selected special services) for the performance profile of structural design in accordance with Part 4 Section 1 of the HOAI and Annex 14 to the HOAI, whereby a step-by-step commissioning is provided for (for details, see Section II.2.11).

The Ruhr Metropolis has successfully acquired the International Garden Exhibition (IGA) for 2027. IGA 2027 is pursuing a decentralised concept that will involve the entire region. Five so-called "future gardens" serve as the main locations. As an inter-municipal location, Bergkamen and Lünen form one of these future gardens, which is planned according to the results of an open space planning competition under the motto "Mountain Worlds and Valley Wonders" as a holistic tourist destination - beyond the IGA 2027.

The planning of the competition winner (GREENBOX Landschaftsarchitekten), which was already commissioned with the object planning in 2021, provides for four buildings (objects) for which structural planning is required in any case: a pedestrian bridge, a climbing wall and two circular bridge constructions (the so-called "Bergrund" on the Bergkamen sub-site and the so-called "Talrund" on the Lünen sub-site). The two circular bridge constructions have outer diameters of approx. 60 m (mountain round) and approx. 50 m (valley round) and can be accessed barrier-free. Their materiality is predominantly intended in steel. The treads should appear transparent and therefore be constructed in perforated sheet metal or grating. The outward-facing fall protection devices on the circular bars are each provided with a sequin structure; this surface offers a projection surface for temporary light installations at night and shows the play between sun and shadow during the day. As an optional fifth object of the structural design, a staircase and ramp system on the Lünen sub-site may be added, where the necessity of a structural design is currently still being examined due to the special features of the subsoil (for more information, see Section II.2.11).

The award includes the technical planning for the functional profile of structural design in accordance with Part 4 Section 1 of the HOAI for the four (or optionally five) aforementioned objects, whereby a step-by-step commissioning of the service phases is provided (for details, see Section II.2.11).

The two contracting authorities involved (cities of Bergkamen and Lünen) each conclude separate engineering contracts for the structural design of the objects at their respective sub-locations, whereby (in particular due to great similarity between the objects Bergrund and Talrund) a uniform award is made to the same contractor for both sub-locations.
