With its city buses and light rail vehicles, ÜSTRA Hannoversche Verkehrsbetriebe Aktiengesellschaft, hereinafter referred to as ÜSTRA, belongs to the top group of German public transport companies. With almost 172 million passengers a year, it is the most powerful service provider for local transport in Lower Saxony.

With over 41 million car kilometres per year (train and bus) and around 2,000 employees, ÜSTRA transports its passengers in Hanover's city centre every 10 minutes during the day. It cooperates in the Greater Hanover Transport (GVH) with the transport companies regiobus Hannover GmbH, DB Regio AG, metronom Eisenbahngesellschaft mbH, Regionalverkehre Start Deutschland GmbH start Niedersachsen Mitte, WestfalenBahn GmbH and erixx GmbH as well as Transdev Hannover GmbH. The Hanover Region, as the authority responsible for local transport, coordinates a coordinated transport network and a uniform tariff system in the GVH.

ÜSTRA plans to procure 20 production-ready minibuses (up to 32 passengers/minibus) for use in its extra-urban project "Sprinti" in 2023. The procurement takes place as leasing including a complete service package (maintenance, repair, replacement vehicle provision) with a leasing period of 14 months (planned project duration).
