The main purpose of this procedure is to contract a service provider to propose and develop a unique and innovative ESPON cartographic language which can (1) be used for cartographic and graphic representations of (in particular) European territorial structures, trends, perspectives, policy impacts and policy priorities and (2) be useful and used as a practical guide for cartography related to ESPON.
The report on innovative visualisation and cartographic language available on the ESPON web site (http://www.espon.eu/main/Menu_Events/Menu_Workshops/workshop0904.html) should serve as inspiration and reference for the service provider. Recent computer technology and software development that offers new options for displaying results as maps or cartographic illustrations should also be explored. This should be considered in display of current policy thinking around European territorial development and cohesion in a modernized and innovative cartographic language.
The new cartographic language proposed is meant to contribute to the improvement of the cartographic tool box available for the ESPON 2013 programme and its use for policy development, strategy formulation and planning by policymakers, scientists, practitioners and interested public.
The services requested are further explained in the technical and administrative terms and conditions.
