As part of the modernization of the Appenzeller Bahnen (AB), a new Service Center (SZ) is to be built. In the new Service Center, a track for the car wash and three tracks for the maintenance of the rolling stock with mechanical workshop and office and storage rooms will be built in the traffic building (VER). The infrastructure building (INF) will house an electrical workshop, a locksmith's shop, pallet and small parts warehouse, vehicle setting and parking as well as cloakroom, recreation and office space. In an additional building, the outbuilding (NEB), there is the cold room storage for materials and vehicles, the disposal, the transformer and rectifier station and a sand silo. An external warehouse in the area of the siding is also planned for the specialist services for the roadway and catenary services.

In the present procurement, the partial services buildings in the form of wall and ceiling cladding made of wood/wood-based materials are put out to tender.
