Background
Stockholm Exergi AB (SE), is a provider of district heating, district cooling and electric power from a set of owned and operated plants and grid throughout the Stockholm metropolitan area.
SE have taken an investment decision to invest in the lifetime extension of its largest combined heat and power plant (CHP) – KVV1 at – Värtaverket, in Stockholm.
KVV1 is a CHP plant for heavy fuel oil with a total nominal steam capacity of 550 MW (220 MW electric power and 330 MW heat) commissioned in 1976. It usually runs when there is a high demand, known as peak demand, for electricity (from November to March).
The majority of the currently installed electrical, instrumentation & control systems (I&C) are about 40 years old. Some parts of the overall control system come from different manufactures and are essentially original equipment.
Project Description
The project objective is to extend the lifetime of the CHP with 25 years. By converting the production plant to combustion of bio-oil and so reduce current levels of emissions to air. Original capacities and performance data, such as district heating and electrical production shall be achieved.
The entire project is divided into three main packages / subprojects, of which two packages have already been procured; i.e. the Boiler and Automation package and the Electric Power Package.
This announcement is connected to the third package Electrical Installation, which includes materials and manpower to perform all required cabling installation. All three Packages are interrelated and coordination will be required.
