The planning area is located in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, Jerichower Land district, in the village of Niegripp. The project is regarded as a priority measure in flood protection in the LK Jerichower Land. The measure in the dike section dike km 3.70 to 4.57 includes the complete renovation including the construction of a berm with DVW and adaptation of the dike height to the new BHW over a length of 905 meters. Due to the not inconsiderable widening of the dike contact area (including the dike protection strips), additional space is required. The resulting interventions in nature and landscape have already been assessed as part of the nature conservation planning. A nature conservation intervention permit has been obtained (February 2020).
Due to internal structural damage, the stability is endangered. Furthermore, the dike section is located in a subsidence area of K+S. Results of subsidence calculations show that the region will settle up to 60 cm within the next 50 years and must be taken into account in the dike height.
