The Hierarchical computer network of the TU Darmstadt enables almost 4 500 employees and more than 27 000 students access to internal and external resources and the worldwide Internet. In total, about 30,000 computers are connected via this central infrastructure. For operational reasons, only network components from the manufacturer Cisco are used in the core network. For these core components there is a maintenance contract in which all newly procured systems and components are integrated.
