The OGCIO intends to source a number of interdependent components and associated services intended to allow for the creation of a 5G ecosystem operated by the OGCIO. This ecosystem will be used as a testbed to examine specific frequency blocks that will inform a decision on future frequency use in the Irish public service. Comreg (The Irish telecommunications regulator) has identified a number of possible frequency options for this purpose and the OGCIO has agreed to trial a number of options. This ecosystem will also be used as part of Ireland’s co-ordinated participation in the Broadway European Public Safety network.
