Study assignment: Reconstruction Albertlaan-Gemeenteplein

The appointment of a designer for the reconstruction of Albertlaan, Gemeenteplein, Pierslaan, Victor Lamoralstraat and Declerckstraat. The complete reconstruction of the Gemeenteplein in all its aspects (hospitality, trade, market events,...) is an integral part of this study assignment.

The Municipal Administration has recently completed a design exercise for the upgrading of the Municipal Square. The end result of this design exercise is the basic concept for the reconstruction of the Gemeenteplein. In addition, the reconstruction of all the streets and squares involved is also part of a larger whole, in which the global RWA vision for the drainage of Knokke is crucial. The reconstruction of the streets and the square involved is directly linked to the larger Aquafin project in which the Zoutelaan, Elizabetlaan and Oosthoekplein are being remedied.

A number of streets involved are also linked to the Bicycle Masterplan of the municipality of Knokke-Heist, which is used to extend the parallel bicycle connection along the tracks via Declerkstraat-Judestraat, and at the same time also of realizing a missing link between St. Sebastiaanspad and the center via the Gemeenteplein and Albertlaan. The Albertlaan must then finalize the connection between the Gemeenteplein and the Flemish Path. The bicycle infrastructure along the Pierslaan also needs to be upgraded.

The redesign concerns both the reconstruction of the superstructure and a complete renovation of the sewerage system. In any case, the redesign must be phased, and integrated with the Aquafin project.

The study assignment is considered to be a total assignment for the redevelopment of the public domain. The assignment also includes the layout of a lighting concept and its implementation. The layout of the lighting concept is done in close consultation with Fluvius.

Currently, the investment cost is estimated at 6,850,000 euros, excluding VAT (19761m²). This budget aims to achieve sustainable redevelopment, whereby the quality objectives are maximally achieved. In other words, a maximum of results must be achieved with the budget.
