The traffic situation on the existing B 87 is characterized in the local transit (OD) Bad Kösen by a high proportion of through traffic. The construction of the bypass (OU) is therefore necessary with the aim of relieving the city centers and guaranteeing spa status.
The new section has a length of about 13.6 km and includes a total of 7 bridge structures, 7 drainage basins and a noise barrier with a length of about 300 m and bat flyover on the track and the buildings.
The largest bridge structure within the section of the route represents the Saale valley crossing with a total length of 1,226 m. The structure runs up to a maximum height of approx. 60 m above the existing terrain.
The total construction costs, including the buildings, amount to approx. EUR 105 million - gross.
