The aim of respite beds is to offer respite for carers by providing short breaks for carers of older people by offering a brief period of stay in a residential or nursing home.

Hampshire County Council intends to commission one residential respite bed and one nursing respite bed in the Gosport area (as detailed in the Service Specification).

Up to two contracts of a duration of 12 months (with the possibility for a further two 12 month extensions) will be awarded to the successful applicant/s. All services will be monitored (as detailed in the Service Specification) to gain further information on their effectiveness and efficiency.
