Vocational training services. The Ministry of Defence has a requirement for up to 4 x 4 year enabling contracts for the provision of English Language Training for International Students. The Educational Institution(s) chosen will be expected to improve the general English Language skills of international military students with an emphasis on language employed in a basic military aviation technical context. Training is mainly to be conducted on the premises of the Educational Institution but may on occasion be delivered within UK military bases. All delivery whether on-site or at an Educational establishment must be within a 90 mile radius of RAF College Cranwell, Sleaford, Lincolnshire. The core task is the delivery of English Language Training to students who will normally be students from the Ministries of Defence of non UK Governments but this does not preclude the UK Ministry of Defence using this training for other students who are sponsored by them. The specific training is required to prepare students for further military study with the UK Ministry of Defence in Aviation and Technical English in preparation for further training courses. The Educational Institution delivering the training must have the ability to teach from a general input standard of International English Language Training Standard 3.5 to 6.5 or equivalent or at lower standards agreed. The purpose is to improve English Language performance to the standard set by the Ministry of Defence and will be in accordance with the IELT standards previously referenced. This will involve testing students on arrival and on completion and to conduct review boards of progress throughout the courses. English Language Training is to focus around speaking, listening, reading, writing, pronunciation, vocabulary development, English grammar in use and aspects of British culture. Further aspects of training required are maths, science, UK military aviation, mechanical and medical language terminologies. The chosen Institution is to accommodate students on a Homestay basis either within the local community or on their premises. All placements will include agreed timescales for the programme and levels of English Language to be achieved. Placements will range from a minimum of one week to a maximum of 92 weeks, though this can be extended by mutual agreement.
