The tourism industry in Vietnam receives attention from the highest political level as a future spearhead economic sector. According to latest sectoral strategies, the sector is expected to contribute 10 % to the GDP (currently 6.8 %), attract 17 000 000 to 20 000 000 foreign visitors and create 4 000 000 new jobs by 2020. However, the sector faces serious challenges, as poor quality of products and services, lack of skilled and professional workforce, little awareness and understanding of Sustainable Tourism, and weak enforcement of conductive framework conditions. Based on results achieved by the EU and other donor-funded projects (ILO, Lux-Dev), this project addresses these challenges with tailor-made solutions and fosters sustainable and inclusive growth in the tourism sector.
