The European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy, in particular the health protection sector of the Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Unit, is responsible for the radiation protection of staff members. The analyses should determine the concentration of radioactive actinides and of tritium, as described in Section 3.4. In cases where an intake of a significant amount of 1 or more radioactive substances is identified the contractor shall estimate the 50-year committed effective dose. To assist with these calculations, the medical service of the Directorate-General for Human Resources and Security or the health protection sector of the Directorate-General for Energy will deliver additional information on the exposed worker(s) concerned as required.
