Training wine seminars

The German Wine Institute (DWI) is the central marketing organization of the German wine industry with the task of promoting the quality and sales and thus the awareness as well as the image of German wines and sparkling wines by means of jointly competitive marketing measures at home and abroad.

The DWI announces the year-round training on the subject of German wine for employees from the catering, retail and wine industries, wine connoisseurs or other wine-interested institutions or people in the form of a framework agreement. The largely standardized seminars include topics relating to the 13 German wine-growing regions, the most important grape varieties, winemaking, German wine law and sensor technology. Every year the DWI conducts around 220 training courses, each lasting from one day to three days.

1. General information

1.1 Depending on the respective seminar, the implementation of the seminars must generally take place from Monday to Saturday from 8.30 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the location of the respective event partner in German-speaking countries or at the location of the German Wine Institute, Platz des Weines 2, 55294 Bodenheim. If necessary, individual agreements can be made between lecturers and participants after consultation with the client. If necessary, a seminar can also start and end in the morning or at noon with half a training day.

1.2 A training day usually consists of at least eight hours (including breaks of a total of one hour); Half a training day consists of at least 4 hours (including breaks totaling half an hour).

1.3 The learning content of the seminars to be held as well as the seminar documents to be issued are finally specified and agreed between the parties on the basis of the submitted offer.

1.4 The contractor ensures that the lessons are carried out conscientiously. In particular, he undertakes to impart the skills and knowledge listed in the relevant material plan to the participants and to monitor the measure carefully.

1.5 At the end of the respective seminar, the participants will receive a certificate (certificate of participation) issued by the client together with the contractor.

1.6 The participants of certain seminars, in particular at the seminar "Recognized consultant for German wine, should carry out a final test at the end of the seminar and before obtaining the certificate. This will be done by the contractor in consultation with the client and corrected by the respective lecturer. The results of the performance test are to be submitted to the client immediately after the seminar.

1.7 On the basis of a questionnaire (seminar assessment) prepared by the contractor in consultation with the client and submitted to the individual participants at the end of a seminar by the contractor, the assessment of the respective event must be queried. The completed questionnaires are to be presented to the client at the end of the seminar.

1.8 At the latest 10 working days (Monday to Friday) after the contract has been awarded, the contractor must discuss and plan details for the curriculum, procedure and dates with the client personally in Bodenheim for the year 2021. The dates and procedures of scheduled seminars for the following years are discussed and agreed with the client at the latest in September of the previous year.

1.9 The contractor must be informed of the conduct of a seminar (in particular for inquiries from organizers during the year) at least 4 weeks before the respective planned event date.

1.10 A change of the lecturers named in the submitted offer is to be avoided and is only permitted for an important reason and with the consent of the client. It is not an important reason if a lecturer is to be used in another project / assignment. If, contrary to expectations, the respective lecturer selection turns out to be unsuitable during the contract period (e.g. after a preliminary discussion or due to complaints from the seminar participants), the client has the option of requesting another lecturer.

1.11 The contractor is obliged to provide the participants with suitable, current and German-language training documents with which they can work in practice. The training documents are always provided by the client, but should be continuously checked by the contractor for necessary updates and adjustments to the respective course of the seminar and, if necessary, corrected in consultation with the client.

1.12 If the seminar falls below a minimum number of eight participants, the seminar can be canceled by the client. Even after the seminars have been scheduled for the lecturers, the client can postpone or cancel seminar dates. In the event of a cancellation up to 10 calendar days before the start of the seminar, the contractor cannot claim any costs against the client. If the training volume remains below the advertised class days, no costs can be claimed against the client, as well as when fewer seminars are called than planned.

1.13 The seminars take place in the training rooms of the client, Platz des Weines 2, 55294 Bodenheim as well as with event partners in the German-speaking area (Germany, Switzerland).

1.14 In addition, the client reserves the right to commission information events about German wine at trade fairs. The German Wine Institute takes part in various specialist and consumer fairs every year, and visitors are taught about German wine here. As part of the daily tasting sessions, visitors to the trade fair are given an overview of the variety of different grape varieties and growing areas.
