The corrosion protection applied in the power water system in 1968 has reached the end of its protection period, and will be renewed in the winter half of 2020/2021 by this project. The renewal covers all areas of the system armored with steel pipes as well as parts of the throttle valve and their connecting pipes in the water lock. The construction site is accessed through 2 entrances: by means of the 5-tonne aerial cableway to the upper end of the pressure shaft at the Äppigen water lock, as well as through the power plant center in the valve chamber into the distribution line or its manhole also from the machine center. Parts of the existing coatings are PCB and PAH-containing.
