Schillerschule - LV THG 006 Sanitärinstallationen
Project
Renovation and expansion of the Schiller School Mannheim into an all-day school, 3rd construction phase of the gymnasium
Location: corner of Germaniastraße and Luisenstraße
specifications
The free-standing "gymnasium" structure consists of two single-field gymnasiums arranged one above the other and four floors with serving rooms (changing rooms, sanitary, equipment and technical rooms, etc.), with two floors each assigned to a gymnasium.
On the south side is the staircase in front, on the intermediate landings there are further sanitary rooms. On the north side, there is an external steel staircase as the second structural escape route from the upper gymnasium.
The free-standing gymnasium is located in Mannheim-Neckarau and was built as a reinforced concrete skeleton structure in 1962.
The school building itself has already been renovated, the heat supply of the gymnasium, as well as drinking water supply, is provided by the newly set up technical centers there.
Plumbing trade
On the 1st floor, the central water heating system for the washing and shower areas will be rebuilt.
During the planning of the sanitary trade, care was taken to ensure that various fire compartments were only passed through with pipes made of non-combustible materials. As a bulkhead for these wall and ceiling passages, resin-bonded pressure-resistant rock wool shells are used to comply with fire protection.
As is already the case, the drinking water supply for the gymnasium will continue to be provided from the corresponding technical centre in the school building. Between the school and the gymnasium, a new cold water connection pipe will be laid in the ground at a frost-free depth.
The existing domestic water connection in the basement of school building 1 is designed in such a way that both the two construction phases that have already been completed and the gymnasium that is now to be renovated can be supplied with drinking water.
All existing sanitary pipes and sanitary objects will be dismantled and disposed of on site. The newly designed shower and toilet areas will be equipped with appropriate objects.
Important NOTE:
The connecting line between the school building and the gymnasium will be carried out as an early measure.
