Freiburger Verkehrs AG intends to convert all diesel bus lines to battery bus operation in the coming years. For this purpose, the principle of opportunity charging at final stops is to be used for the most part.
Following the already successful conversion of some lines, a further 22 vehicles are to be procured for the conversion of the vehicle fleet to alternative drives. These are all-electric low-floor articulated buses (18 m) with pantograph for fast charging and two driven axles with motors close to the wheels.
