1. Information on the construction project

- Project description Julius Kühn Institute: (e.g. location/location/history)

The Julius Kühn Institute (JKI) is an independent federal research institute within the portfolio of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and conducts research in the field of genetics, breeding, cultivation, nutrition and the protection and health of crops. The JKI currently operates 10 locations throughout Germany, including one institute location each in Berlin Dahlem and Kleinmachnow. These two locations are to be merged at the Dahlem site in the future. In addition to the 15 buildings of different sizes and construction times as well as 19 greenhouses, there are large-scale test fields on the property at Königin-Luise-Str. 17-25 in Berlin Dahlem. The buildings that characterize the property are the two listed houses A and B from the beginning of the 20th century on Königin-Luise-Straße. Directly behind these two houses is House C from the 50s, which houses a canteen with a kitchen. This is followed by a zone with greenhouses and various experimental and farm buildings, behind which large-scale test fields extend as far as Koserstraße in the northwest of the property. A master plan was drawn up for the property at Königin-Luise-Str. 17-25 in Berlin Dahlem in 2017.

The master plan envisages implementing the expansion in seven packages of measures in stages and during ongoing operations.

House C is centrally located on the forum of the JKI and is located in the main access axis coming from Königin-Luise-Straße. House C was built in 1956 and was used at the time as a heating system with coke cellar and casino as well as for a caretaker's apartment. In the 1980s, the coal cellar was converted into storage space and later the living quarters into office space.

Building C currently houses the canteen with dining room and the offices for BImA's facility management.
