The required equipment must allow the determination of the flexural break modulus (three points), dense and insulating refractory materials, at room temperature and temperature, up to at least 1500°C. Measurements must be carried out according to standards EN 993-7 and ISO 5013.

The equipment shall consist of a furnace in which the bending cell is located, a charging device, a unit for programming/regulating the furnace, a unit for programming the loading, a device for measuring the displacement of the loading piston. The equipment must also include a computer and software (s) to manage the two controller programmers and record: the temperature of the furnace, the temperature of the sample, the load applied to the sample and the displacement of the charging piston as a function of time. The equipment must allow several successive measurements to be carried out without cooling the furnace. The oxygen content of the furnace must be measured.
