This contract is for the provision of a 24 hour, 365 day per year vehicle and plant equipment recovery service for all units in Glasgow City Council's current fleet.

The Council provides a wide range of services and this tender relates to the provision of a 24 hours, 365 days per year recovery service for vehicles and plant equipment to ensure operational personnel can carry out their duties in a safe and efficient manner and ensure continuity of service.

The Council and the wider Council family operate fleet of approximately 1 200 vehicles, including:

— cars,

— light vans (under 3,5 Tonnes),

— light goods vehicles (over 3,5 Tonnes GVW),

— medium commercial vehicles (between 3,5 and 7,5 Tonnes GVW),

— heavy goods vehicles (between 7,5 and 18 Tonnes GVW),

— minibuses and buses,

— motorcycles and

— heavy vehicles (over 18 Tonnes GVW) including:

—— refuse collection vehicles,

—— articulated lorries,

—— trailers and gritters.

The Council’s fleet also contains approximately 1 600 items of plant equipment, including:

— utility vehicles,

— compressors,

— tractors,

— tooling,

— diggers and

— other road equipment and parks and gardening equipment.
