This contract E2 includes an extension to the existing special school Heerup Skole in Vanløse for the City of Copenhagen. Please also refer to point II.2.4 below and the tender specifications.
The school was built in 1952 by the architect Fritz Schlegel and consists of two-storey long buildings that form two L shapes around an original indoor schoolyard. The original school building has red brick exterior walls as well as yellow-coloured plaster and newer white smooth façade panels. The original school building is internally characterized by fine architectural details, and is SAVE worthy of preservation 4.
In 2019, Heerup school was rebuilt and expanded into a new special school. As part of the transformation, the long-term buildings are connected by a new one-storey extension of 1,020 m2 characterised by an organic expression with an inner egg-shaped garden called Henry's Garden.
The new extension will be connected to the conversion part from 2019 and does not involve any refurbishment but joint construction as well as connections to existing buildings.
Heerup School is a pilot project for the contracting entity due to the choice of CLT as a building material, and is expected to become a reference project for many years to come. The contracting entity therefore wants a systematic collection of experience during the execution of the project, with a focus on learning and collecting about how it has affected the project to build in CLT, and also how it is different to build compared to a traditional building. The framework is described in more detail in the tender documents.
It can be stated that the tendered task includes design. The scope of this design is set out in the job descriptions contained in the tender documents.
