The heating for the hospital is located in central boiler house within the grounds of the site, and currently consists of 2 x 2 steam raising wood chip biomass boilers, the UHSM site is operational 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, requiring a constant supply of fuel, and the base heat load requirements for the site is satisfied by the main biomass installation, therefore the Trust envisages an annual consumption in the region of 21 000 MWH delivered via wood chip fuel.

The annual boiler service and insurance strip down along with six-month service will be required to enable maintenance and insurance inspection. during such periods the wood chip will not be required for the biomass boilers and to schedule this is prior notice will be given.
