The municipality of Appenweier is planning the expansion of the wastewater treatment plant in Appenweier.
The municipality of Appenweier operates a mechanical-biological sewage treatment plant for the treatment of wastewater from the districts of Appenweier, Urloffen and Nesselried.
The wastewater is purified by mechanical/biological purification steps according to the aeration process.
The current expansion size is 12,300 PE. The load on the sewage treatment plant has increased significantly in recent years, which is why a new discharge permit for 18,500 PE and a higher hydraulic load is currently being applied for.
The following measures are planned for the expansion of the Appenweier wastewater treatment plant:
• Inlet pumping station: replacement of screw conveyor and submersible pumps
• Computing hall: replacement of the screen, new construction of the rake building, grease acceptance, renewal of the ventilation and air-conditioning technology, optimising heating output
• Remediation of sand and grease traps
• Pre-clarifier: optimize sludge extraction, remediation of scrapers
• Revival: New construction of a 2nd aeration stage
• P-precipitation: two-point precipitation
• Secondary sedimentation tank: New construction of a two-line basin
• Sludge treatment: new construction or extension of digesters (steel tanks), renovation of gas system, replacement of technical equipment
• Old company building: waterproofing, renewal of the control system
• Receiving bunker for stillages: Renovation of lining
The construction schedule stipulates that the implementation planning should begin at the beginning of November. The implementation will have to take place in several construction phases during ongoing operation. Total completion is scheduled for the end of September 2026.
The cost estimate (as of I/2023) amounts to approx. € 9.5 million gross.
