Reading School is a selective boys' day and boarding school. There are 912 pupils on roll including 80 boarders. The school employs just over 100 staff of whom 9 are residential.

The School dates from 1125 making it the 10th oldest school in England; the current buildings date from 1870 and are Grade 2 listed. The School converted to Academy status in February 2011.
