Conception and planning of the high- and low‐voltage systems (plant groups 4+5) of House C of the Städtisches Klinikum Karlsruhe gGmbH
The Städtische Klinikum Karlsruhe gGmbH is the largest hospital in the Middle Upper Rhine region. It is designated in the hospital requirements plan of the state of Baden-Württemberg as a house of maximum care and a teaching hospital of the University of Freiburg.
As part of the target planning, the building House C will be converted. This is an existing building from the beginnings of the hospital, built around 1907 with parts of the interior and exterior that are partly listed as historical monuments.
With regard to the demolition of extensions to House C, it is necessary to design and plan the high‐voltage and low‐voltage systems ahead of time, as they are currently located in a part of the building that is to be demolished.
Detailed information on high and low current requirements:
Currently, there is a transformer station in house C with 2 transformers with a nominal output of 630 kVA each. The NEA has a nominal power of 560 kVA.
At present, construction costs (DIN 276) of approx. € 7.1 million gross for KGr. 440 and KGr. 450 are assumed.
In terms of scheduling, the following milestones are agreed:
Commission: December 2023
Final planning (LPH 1‐3): June 2024
Further milestones will be determined and agreed upon by updating and detailing the framework schedule depending on any construction phases. The following dates are currently to be assumed:
Start of execution, if necessary, preliminary measures (at the latest): Q3 / 2024
Completion overall: Q4/2026
The main building characteristics of the existing building House C are:
- Built in 1907
- Gross floor area approx. 17,100 m²
- Ward size (max.) 20 ‐ 24 beds
- Ward and treatment building of the original clinic
- Solid construction by means of masonry
For the measures House C at the Karlsruhe Municipal Hospital, the services of the technical equipment, plant groups 4 (high-voltage systems) and 5 (telecommunications and information technology systems) are to be awarded in accordance with §§ 53 ff. HOAI.
The services will be commissioned in stages. Initially, service phases 1 and 2 are commissioned in accordance with § 55 HOAI.
Work phases 3 to 9 will be called up in the further commissioning stages. There is no legal entitlement to a total commission.
