Due to its age, the Melide substation will be replaced by a new substation in Pian Scairolo. The new building will be connected in Pian Sciarolo to the transmission lines UL 62 Mendrisio, UL 42 Vezia and UL 44 Vezia, which will initially be operated with 66kV. A voltage increase to 132kV is planned in the coming years. In this context, SBB intends to procure two catenary transformers 21.8MVA, 16.7Hz.

The delivery includes manufacturing, FAT, transport, unloading, assembly and on-site testing of two new catenary transformers 16.7Hz, 21.8MVA, 132-66/16kV.
