Description:

NHS Bassetlaw Clinical Commissioning Group invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified organisations / individuals that could provide all or part of draft specification requirements.

The purpose of the Bassetlaw Ophthalmology Clinical Assessment and Treatment Service is to improve access and patient experience of common ophthalmic conditions, promote awareness and understanding to improve self-care and treatment for patients with long term ophthalmic conditions and improve the health and well-being of Bassetlaw residents. The Ophthalmology CATS will posses clinical autonomy and a reputation for the delivery of a high quality and clinically safe service.

The service will operate as two parts:

- A specialist-led service offering triage, assessment and treatment of a range of common ophthalmic conditions, and developing into management of wider and complex conditions over time. Patients will be referred into the service from other health professionals typically the patient's registered GP.

- A service which offers management of patients with glaucoma whose condition is considered stable. Patients will either be referred in via their registered GP or secondary care consultant, where it is considered appropriate for those patients to be managed in the community. Patients defined as ‘stable' will reflect the national guidance set out with the NICE guidance for Glaucoma CG85.
