Newcastle City Council are re-tendering the Housing with Care Framework which will include a range of General and specialist dementia housing services. This framework will allow us to ensure that there is an alternative, competitive offer to residential care. The Framework Agreement will be a 48 month term — which is subject to an option to extend for up to a further 12 months after an initial term of 36 months.
This Framework Agreement is for adults aged 55 or above, with the exception of clients with early dementia related illnesses, in which case the age criteria may be waived. Adults will be resident within the City of Newcastle and be assessed as eligible to receive care under Care Act 2014 following a needs assessment.
Lot 1) will provide generalist housing with care services for adults aged 55 or above. Adults will be resident within the City of Newcastle and be assessed as eligible to receive care under Care Act 2014 following a needs assessment.
Housing with Care schemes aim to have a mix of people with varying levels of care and support needs. This ensures a balance of the community within the scheme. This will include people who are reasonably independent but who can benefit from independent living within an Extra care housing setting, people with moderate care needs and people with higher needs who may otherwise be considering a move into residential care.
Lot 2 will provide Housing with Care schemes for people with Cognitive and dementia type symptoms and the age restriction of over 55 may be waived dependent on individual assessment.
