The Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) is Ireland's independent energy and water regulator. The CER was established in 1999 and has a wide range of economic, customer protection and safety responsibilities in energy. Under Section 14 of the Gas(Interim) Regulation, Act 2002 (as amended) the CER approves charges for use of the gas systems; both transmission and distribution. CER is required to set the revenues that Gas Networks Ireland as Transmission System Operator and Distribution System Operator can recover over the revenue control periods. Please note that since August 2014, Gas Networks Ireland is the new name for Bord Gáis Networks. In addition, with the sale of the supply arm (Bord Gáis Energy), Gaslink has now been integrated back into the Gas Networks Ireland business. CER is procuring consultancy support for the GNI Transmission and Distribution revenue controls to run from Oct. 2017 to Sep. 2022. Tender document available to download from www.etenders.gov.ie
