Description:
IT maintenance services for the data center of UniBw M

The University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich (client) was founded in 1973 at the behest of the then Federal Minister of Defence, Helmut Schmidt, under the name "University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich". It is one of two universities that the Bundeswehr has for the training of its officer cadets and young officers. The university is part of the Civil Personnel Division and is assigned to the Federal Ministry of Defence.

The client operates a data centre which is primarily used for communication, data processing and data storage purposes. In the data center, the client uses a variety of different hardware components. These are exclusively those of the manufacturer Hewlett Packard Enterprise ("HPE"). Some of the components used are newer and some are older, so-called "legacy" components.

The client is looking for a contractor who will take over the maintenance and servicing of the entire network components and associated servers of the data center. The client concludes a contract with the contractor with a term of three years.

UniBw M initially put the services out to tender throughout Europe with an announcement dated 09.08.2023 in the Official Journal of the European Union (2023/S 152-486133). On 13.10.2023, UniBw M cancelled the award procedure and is now putting the services out to tender again.

The client operates a data center that is primarily used for communication, data processing and data storage purposes. In the data center, the client uses a large number of different components. These are exclusively those from the manufacturer HPE. Some of the components used are of newer design, some are older, so-called "legacy components". The legacy components to be maintained account for a share of approximately 40 percent.

The client is looking for a contractor who will take over the maintenance and servicing of the entire network components and associated servers of the data center. In addition to the maintenance of the hardware used, this also includes the maintenance of software, especially firmware and management software. The Windows operating system is not to be maintained by the contractor. The client concludes a contract with the contractor with a term of three years.

The contractor shall provide all services previously provided by HPE. The scope of services results from the service description. The Statement of Work refers to the HPE Pointnext Tech Care Data Sheet ("Data Sheet"). This data sheet contains details of the scope of services. The client shall specify in detail in the service description which deviations from the data sheet apply. Furthermore, the service description contains clarifications and explanations to the data sheet.
