Galileo Second Generation Satellites Batch 1 are designed to embark units (RMU) in charge of monitoring the radiation environment. The Galileo RMU will monitor and characterise the total ionising dose, electron, proton, heavy ion and charging levels over solar cycles. The RMU will operate at the Galileo Medium Earth Orbit orbits (MEO: 23 222 km altitude) which are crossing the Earth’s outer radiation belt with very high energy electrons. The Galileo RMU will measure the charged particles in a wide range of energy, i.e. [100 Kev-7 Mev] for electrons, [2-200 Mev] for protons, [0,1-10 Mev cm
