The aim of the measure is to create a further focal point in the south as a counterpart to the parking options in the north of the historic city center, thus preventing the search for traffic through the historic streets (Tempo 20 zone with numerous zebra crossings).
The building site is located near the historic city center of Rottweil between Kaiserstrasse, Marxstrasse and Körnerstrasse. There is currently a single-storey car park on the area, the middle part of which is to be covered with a multi-storey car park.
The terrain has considerable differences in height, the Kaiserstr. is approx. 6 m higher than the Körnerstraße.
The parking spaces are used or needed for:
- Shopping and visitor traffic in the historic city center and the adjacent service and business areas,
- Employees and visitors to the surrounding authorities (including the police, tax office, district and regional court),
- Teachers and pupils from the nearby schools (the school campus should be relieved of the parking function in the future).
The existing car park will be accessed via Körnerstraße, and the parking garage should be accessed from Kaiserstraße.
Additional functions such as bicycle parking spaces or rental bicycles are being considered in the immediate vicinity and also in the parking garage itself. Discussions are currently underway regarding a charging station for electric cars.
A soil survey and an immission control report have been commissioned and are expected to be available at the beginning or end of February.
