Description:

The framework agreement is for the conversion of Volkswagen Transporter and Ford Connect vans, or other van manufacturers equivalents, to incorporate containment cells.

The vehicles to be converted will be purchased by a Participating Authority. The Contractor will uplift the vehicles from the Participating Authority for the purposes of the body build conversions and return the converted vehicles to the Participating Authority.

The requirement will include 4 types of conversion, two for larger vans and two for medium vans.

Type 1 - This conversion is for a 4 person containment cell in a large van. The seating configuration of the cell will comprise of two seats to be positioned on each side of the cell.

Type 2 - This conversion is for a 2 person containment cell in a large van. The seating configuration of the cell will comprise of two seats to be positioned on the off-side of the vehicle.

Type 3 - This conversion is for a 2 person containment cell in a medium van. The seating configuration of the cell will comprise of one seat to be positioned on each side of the vehicle.

Type 4 - This conversion is for a 1 person containment cell in a medium van. The seating configuration of the cell will comprise of one seat to be positioned on the off-side of the vehicle.

Each containment cell will be made from 25 mm steel box section with seats and floor made from 2 mm steel sheet. A polycarbonate backrest is on the seating areas and the roof area is to be clad in polycarbonate.

Each cell will have: vertical bars on the front and rear facings (20 mm square box section panelled with 6 mm gauge clear polycarbonate); an escape hatch to be opened only from the saloon interior; access door with three position slam lock; ventilation at floor level; roof mounted electric extraction fan; underseat storage and an internal light.

The warranty offered for all parts, materials and workmanship supplied and/or installed by the Contractor must have an on site parts and/or labour warranty of at least 12 months.

Facilities must be made available for periodic inspection of the conversion(s) by the Participating Authority's Authorised Officer, during and at completion of, the construction(s).
