The Uckermark Theatres Schwedt (ubs) are a flagship of the city, which have an impact far beyond the city limits. The open-air stage enhances the external effect and is a very popular venue for theatre, concerts, etc. The central location of the open-air theatre behind the main building of the Uckermark Theatres on the so-called Kultur-Ufer of the city gives an idea of the importance of this measure.
As part of the german-Polish funding programme INTERREG IV A 2007-2013 (POMERANIA), the European Huguenot Park (EHP) has been extensively rebuilt since 2009. The open-air stage was completed in September 2010.
The open-air stage is the cultural heart with proximity to the water and attractive visual axes as one of the crucial components of the EHP with multifunctional usability. As part of the project, a new construction of an elevated trapezoidal spectator terrace with up to 700 seats was built. The stage itself is covered, but the seating areas are not.
In recent years, there has been an increasing need to set up a shading system in order to increase the quality of stay in the audience area during the main seasons of the open-air stage.
The demands on the design in a structural-constructive manner as well as in its aesthetics in the form of a high-quality building culture are very high.
The shading system is primarily intended to serve as sun protection, if necessary also as rain protection. Both functionality and the existing roofing of the stage must be taken into account. Due to the location of the stage in the immediate vicinity of ubs, the interests of monument protection must also be taken into account. Sustainability, flexibility and innovation in the selection of materials and functionality (proof of feasibility/operation) are to be demonstrated.
