After the foundation of the monastery in 1015, the construction of the church began immediately, which was consecrated on 2 November 1021 in the presence of Emperor Henry II.

The monastery church of St. Michael was closed in November 2012 due to acute danger of partial collapse of the vault. Massive cracks in the ceiling sails of the church vault, severe loss of substance, leaking roofing and inadequate drainage were present. In recent years, various preliminary investigations and the static repair of the church have taken place.
