RheinEnergie AG intends to construct a large-scale heat pump system in a capacity class of approx. 150 MW thermally for the generation of district heating on the premises of the Cologne-Niehl site. The heat source of the large-scale heat pump will be river water taken from the Rhine. There is a requirement to provide a district heating flow temperature of over 100 °C for the district heating network with the large-scale heat pump from the lowest Rhine water temperature of approx. 5 °C as a heat source.

The construction project is divided into several lots.
This announcement covers Lot 1 with the scope of supply "Large heat pump" and Lot 2 with the scope of supply "River water abstraction".

Lot 1:
The large-scale heat pump system consists of the main mechanical components: heat exchanger, refrigerant circuit system including compressor and refrigerant accumulator. Also included are the EI&C components required for the operation of the large-scale heat pump, including the associated software and controls, as well as the structural planning and scope of delivery.

Lot 2:
River water abstraction includes both the construction services and the plant technology for river water abstraction from the harbour basin in the order of approx. 24,000 – 30,000 m³/h, divided into two to three intake lines. Also included are the EI&C components required for the operation of the river water intake with the associated software and controls
