The university and Hanseatic city of Greifswald is the district town of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in the northeast of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It is located on the river Ryck, which flows into the Baltic Sea on the Greifswalder Bodden between the islands of Rügen and Usedom. In addition, the city of Greifswald is the most important science and business location in the Western Pomerania region. Due to the increasing number of pupils, the Hanseatic City of Greifswald decided to build the school center at Ellernholzteich. The inclusive school center consists of a regional school with elementary school, day-care center and a 2-field sports hall with the corresponding outdoor facilities.
