Assistance to the Engineering and Operation of the Megajoule Laser Installation - AIEL2

On the SIENID site of CEA CESTA, the Megajoule Laser Installation (LMJ), classified ICPE, enters a phase corresponding to:

- The continuation and completion of the assembly of the laser subsystem and the control control subsystem, the continuation of the assembly of the experiment subsystem, and in particular the integration of the cryogenic system intended for the targets and the integration of argon into the casings of the 22 laser chains of the LMJ;

- The initiation of renovation programs of some subsystems of the LMJ, starting with the control command of certain sets of the building and security subsystem (Nuclear Ventilation and Air Conditioning, Personnel Safety System);

- The conduct of experimental laser-matter interaction programs, implementing operational equipment and an evolutionary configuration up to the nominal configuration of the 22 laser chains;

- The continuation of the maintenance in operational condition (MCO) of all installed assets;

- The passage in detailed definition, realization and qualification of stage 2 of nuclearization of the LMJ with the realization of the Support Building at the Hall of Experience and its integration into the LMJ installation;

The services consist in providing the CEA:

- Engineering assistance for residual acts of design and construction, related to the ramp-up of the installation as well as for the acts of design and construction of renovations;

- The operating assistance to carry out the experiments, linked to the management of the activities of assembly, integration, testing, maintenance and operation itself.

These services concern all the installations related to the LMJ Project, comprising a main building, an easement building, and support rooms, some of which are in a demarcated area under radiation protection (former restricted area).

The main building, most of whose premises are in ISO 8 or even ISO 7 cleanliness class, has a length of 300 m, a width of 150m and a height of 40m. It is formed by 4 laser halls and local energy banks, surrounding an experience hall classified As a Delimited Area of a radiological nature.
