The replacement of a new bridge structure and the replacement of two retaining walls are planned. The bridge structure and both retaining walls are located in the south of Leipzig,
on the border between the districts of Leipzig and Connewitz, in the course of Richard-Lehmann-Straße between Altenburger Straße and Schlachthofbrücke.
The bridge BW IV/20 with the adjacent supporting structures IV/W14 and IV/W04 in the course of Richard-Lehmann-Straße serves to bridge the level jump between the
Richard-Lehmann-Straße and the site of the MDR headquarters on the north side as well as the site to the south around the former gasometer.
The existing bridge structure IV/20 was built around 1910 as a slab girder bridge / girder grate bridge. It has a span of 11 m and a width between the railings of 17 m.
The retaining wall IV/W14, east of the ramp bridge, has a length of 130 m and a central length of 130 m. Height of 5.99 m. The retaining wall IV/W04 has a length of 185 m and a medium-sized retaining wall. Height of 2.05 m. Bridge and retaining walls are located in the area of the western ramp. Between the two retaining walls, a district heating line crosses Richard-Lehmann-Straße, which is bridged by building IV/20.
In connection with the renewal of the bridge and retaining walls, the traffic system in the ramp area is also to be thoroughly expanded.
