The Staffordshire and West Midlands Probation Trust works to provide a reports service to the courts in respect of offenders and is responsible for supervision and management of offenders subject to court orders and prison licence requirements. It also has a role in having to protect the public, reduce re-offending, enforcing punishment of offenders, rehabilitation of offenders to lead law abiding lives and upholding the interests of victims of crime.

The current service provision is provided by 3 security contractors, one covering the premises in the locking and unlocking service in Coventry, one covering the unlocking and locking service and uniformed security service in Walsall and Wolverhampton, with the third contractor covering the unlocking and locking service and uniformed security service in Birmingham and Sandwell.

The service provision does not include a key holding or patrol service.

Staffordshire County Council is acting on behalf of SWMPT for the purposes of assisting with the Procurement only. The ultimate Contracting Authority is SWMPT.
