Spinelli School - LV21 Metal Construction Work

The city of Mannheim has commissioned its subsidiary BBS Bau- und Betriebsservice GmbH with the construction of a two-tier primary school with full-day care and canteen in the newly emerging Spinelli district. The city assumes a total of around 250 students.

The building plot is located in the northeastern area of the Mannheim municipal area. The property is part of a newly designated construction site, which borders: north and west on Dürkheimer Straße with subsequent residential development. The plot represents a flat area covered with grass.

The new two-storey building with partial basement will be built in the basement and the floor slab of the ground floor, as well as in the case of staircases, the elevator shaft and sanitary cores in solid construction. The remaining building elements on the ground and upper floors are in hybrid wood construction. Structural wooden supports and wooden panel walls combined with a wood-concrete composite deck.

In front of the building, the wooden escape balcony is built on massive single and strip foundations. The façade is a ventilated wood planking made of larch. The main entrance to the building faces west. The schoolyard is adjacent to the building to the south.

The compact, rectangular structure measures a total of approx. 50 metres in east-west direction and approx. 30 metres in north-south direction (including escape balcony). The height of the building is 8.25m above ±0.03 OKFF ground floor. The gross floor area of the new building is 3,175m² and the gross volume is 11,713m³.

The technical equipment of the building includes a ventilation system with cooling registers, a photovoltaic system on the roof, a passenger lift and a treatment kitchen with canteen.

Interior finishing is carried out in drywall with generous planking and fixtures made of wood.

The entrance and exit to the building site is from the northwest via Dürkheimer Straße, at the corner of the Joseph-Bauer-Haus, to the construction site.
