The contracting authority is responsible for keeping the public space of the municipalities of Barendrecht, Albrandswaard and Ridderkerk clean, whole and safe. The three municipalities are road managers of the roads within the built-up area and, pursuant to Article 15 et seq. of the Roads Act, are responsible for the maintenance of the road, including associated verge and verge ditches. This means, among other things, that the road authorities are responsible for the good and safe condition of roads. This concern also includes combating environmental pollution caused by incidents in which grease, paint, fuels, cool and battery fluids and oil have ended up on the road. But this also includes combating calamities such as dumped asbestos and cleaning up drugs and drug waste.
The assignment consists of cleaning the roads within the municipal boundaries in the three BAR municipalities. This relates to the removal of environmental pollution on roads and verges and emergency deployment.
The main activities are as follows:
- Accepting reports from employees of the BAR organization and pulling out on demand for incidents;
- Securing the situation;
- Taking traffic measures;
- Making an inventory and recording relevant data on the spot;
- Determining the working method and material and personnel to be used;
- Cleaning up the contamination and cleaning road surfaces;
- Removing and cleaning up asbestos;
- The removal and disposal of drugs and drug waste;
- The environmentally responsible disposal of waste and released material;
- Drawing up a report.
