Marine Scotland will be testing a territorial users rights for fisheries which is a system that allocates an area of sea to a specified group, often community organised, who then undertake further allocations within that group for a set period of time to sustainably manage the stock.

Marine Scotland wish to test this management approach to achieve the sustainable harvest of cockles whilst encouraging a long term management ethos within the fishery.
