City of Burgdorf and Hanover Region - New IGS Burgdorf and Special Education School Region of Hanover

The city of Burgdorf is planning to build an IGS. The Hanover region is planning to build a special school. It is planned to build the two schools on adjacent properties. Through the cooperation of the school authorities and the sharing of certain functions, such as B. sports halls, there should be synergy effects. The construction of both schools will be carried out by a total contractor.

There is a division into 2 lots. An application and submission of an offer is permitted for only one lot or both lots.

- Lot 1: IGS Burgdorf (Rudolf Bembenneck Comprehensive School);

- Lot 2: School at the Hanover Region waterworks.

The subject of this award is the total contractor services for the construction project, i.e. all the necessary architectural and engineering services, work, services and deliveries that are required for the turnkey, functional, defect-free and ready-to-use production of the construction project along with outdoor facilities, traffic areas and parking lots.

A map showing the location of the construction project can be found in the appendix to the functional specification of the tender documents.

A framework schedule has been drawn up for the implementation of the construction project, which is part of the tender in the tender documents. The main milestones can be found in this framework schedule. This includes the start of construction in summer 2022 as well as the completion of the total contractor services and the commissioning of the buildings in summer 2024.

New IGS Burgdorf building

Until 2015, the city of Burgdorf was the school authority for a high school, a secondary school, a secondary school and 5 elementary schools. An IGS has been under construction since 2015; the Realschule and the Hauptschule run in parallel. The 6-course high school remains.

The possibility of accommodating the IGS in the previous secondary school and / or other existing inner-city school buildings was excluded by a feasibility study by an architecture firm.

Based on the result of the feasibility study completed at the end of 2017, the construction of a new building for a 6-speed IGS on a 51,000 m 2nd extensive property planned on the northern outskirts. The city of Burgdorf has acquired the property and has so far had a sound, odor, traffic and soil report and an urban planning concept drawn up. In 2018, a user needs analysis was carried out with the participation of teachers, students and parents.

The plot of land to be built is on the northern outskirts to the east opposite a biscuit factory. In the immediate vicinity are, in addition to the biscuit factory, the special needs school for intellectual development to be built in the eastern part of the property, a technical center of the THW, the local fire brigade Burgdorf and currently. another refugee shelter.

The new building is to contain space for a 6-tier IGS in the years 5 to 10 (Sec I) and a 4-tier Sec II (ages 11 to 13). A 4-pass Sek II is in the approval phase at the state school authority. Approximately 1,080 schoolchildren will be enrolled in secondary school I, (plus 312 in secondary school II). The schooling is expected to take place in grades 5 to 13.

New building for the Hannover Region special school

The school at the waterworks is one of nine special schools in the Hanover region with a focus on intellectual development. In the 2018/19 school year, 121 pupils will be trained in 18 classes. The training takes place at the main site on the Wasserwerkweg in Burgdorf in nine classes, at the external site in Uetze in five classes. Four further classes of the final level are trained in 3 appartments in Burgdorf.

Organizing school operations at two locations 17 km apart is disproportionately complex. The creation of the necessary additional space at the main site is not possible due to planning restrictions. A partial new building is conceivable elsewhere, but the disproportionate effort for the school would remain with this variant. A permanent separation of school operations affects a pedagogical concept tailored to the entire student body and means a high administrative and financial expenditure for school operations.

For these reasons, the Hanover Region intends to rebuild the special needs school on an area of approximately 2 hectares bordering the property of the newly built IGS Burgdorf, in the immediate vicinity of the IGS.

The plot of land to be built is located on the northern outskirts of the city opposite a biscuit factory and to the west on the plot of land acquired by the city of Burgdorf, on which a new building for an integrated comprehensive school is to be built.

The previous main location of the school at the waterworks, a technical center of the THW, the police station, the local fire brigade Burgdorf and a refugee accommodation are located in the immediate vicinity. Within walking distance, on the opposite side of the road, is the curative education center for life support, in which the school at the waterworks uses the therapeutic bath and the offer of curative education riding.
