The actions included in this project are intended to improve the existing structural measures in Lower Guadalhorce to avoid serious risks to people or high economic damage, proposed as a safeguard for consolidated urban areas and existing infrastructures. With this, the aim is to provide solutions that minimize the risks of flooding in the affected urban areas, improving and mitigating their effects in the section before the mouth of the Guadalhorce River in the city of Malaga and seeking that this implementation of measures involves maintaining and preserve as much as possible the existing environmental conditions in the Guadalhorce River, minimizing its conditions as much as possible.

The object of the contract is the execution of the works for the defense of the Guadalhorce river against floods in the TM of Málaga, in accordance with the construction project already drawn up.

Finally, it is indicated that the purpose of these actions is consistent with the basic general criterion in hydraulic planning of reducing the vulnerability of the territory to the dangers and damages caused by extraordinary floods. This purpose is accompanied by the consideration that the proposed structural measures have been reduced to the bare minimum to minimize the effects on the Guadalhorce River and to avoid the possibility of increasing the areas of occupation by human activities.
