As part of the network expansion program Beznau-Mettlen, it is planned to convert one leg of the existing 220 kV Beznau-Birr line for operation to 380 kV. Part of the planned pipeline is an approx. 1.3 km long partial cabling route in the area of Riniken, Bözberg, Brugg and Villnachern.

This sub-cabling route is connected to the existing overhead line via 2 overhead line sections North and South. For this purpose, 14 new steel lattice masts will be erected and 19 masts of the existing overhead line between the two connection points will be demolished.
