Växjö municipality invites artists to submit expressions of interest for artistic design for Furutåskolan in Växjö.
In the first stage, artists are invited to submit expressions of interest, which must be received by Växjö municipality no later than 09 October 2023. The application must be submitted electronically via TendSign.

Background
Växjö is a steadily growing municipality – the population is increasing by just over a thousand people per year. The municipality has a successful sports life and cultural offerings with a broad appeal. Linnaeus University is a university with international qualities. As a result of the city's strong growth, Växjö municipality and the municipal property company Vöfab have identified the need for a completely new school building and independent sports hall. The new school and sports hall will be built where the old Furutåskolan is located in the Teleborg area.
Vöfab intends to develop and establish artistic design for Furutåskolan. The process is supported by the Culture and Leisure Administration, Växjö municipality.
The new F-6 school will have a capacity of about 520 students and is expected to be completed by May 2025. The freestanding sports hall is expected to be completed in autumn 2027.
Two art designs are now being procured for the project.
The project's ambition is high in terms of sustainability. The UN's climate goals and Agenda 2030 are present throughout all parts of the project. Both the school and the sports hall will be built as passive houses plus technology.
