The project group Business Information Systems of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT is an internationally recognized and regionally anchored research area in Bayreuth and Augsburg with a focus on digitization and business information systems, in particular digital disruption, digital business and digital transformation. The project group's scientifically sound business informatics competence, which is indispensable for the development of solutions in the area of selected bowl technologies (e.g. blockchain, Internet of Things and artificial intelligence), is a new building with a corresponding research-supporting facility (e.g. workshops and software laboratories, showrooms, presentation and seminar areas, co-working spaces, creative and experiment environments and test tracks for robots) in Bayreuth. Another core competence of the project group lies in the areas of energy and mobility, which should also be reflected in the realization of the new building. With the new building, research activities can thus be carried out at the highest level within the broad range of content, from business-related to technology-related topics in business information systems.

EUR 20 million is planned for the realization of the building. With these funds, a new building with 2 083 m 2 usable space (NF) is to be built for 148 workplaces.
