Conclusion of a framework agreement for the extension and maintenance of a MicroStrategy application (DiAna) to support complex data analyses of the AOK system in the intranet

The AOK-Bundesverband (here the Scientific Institute of the AOK (WIdO)) supports the AOKs in carrying out complex data analyses. With the "Integrated Data, Rules Library and Analysis Platform of the AOK" (DiAna), users at the AOKs have access to a database with the performance data of all anonymized 28 million AOK insured persons via a flexible, browser-based analysis platform.

The subject of the tender is the support and extension of an existing application. Support in the sense of maintaining the previously offered analysis options including adaptation to new technologies within the MicroStrategy environment. Expansion means the continuous further development of analytical functionalities.

The DiAna web application is offered to the AOKs via the protected intranet. It is a guided application in which fixed reports or dashboards and dossiers enable users to answer questions of varying complexity. "DiAna light" and "DiAna covid" are tools of the analysis platform for an aggregated data area without prompting with many filter options and "DiAna classic" and "DiAna Sandbox" are tools with complex prompting for granular, flexible analyses on the cross-functional data of the underlying data warehouse. The application primarily supports exploratory analyses that generate variable queries on the anonymised benefit data of the 28 million insured persons.

For the application, some features have been implemented through the MicroStrategy Intelligence Server SDK. Web SDK plugins control the LookAndFeel (logo, corporate identity), the input of description texts and the switching of a maintenance page. The dossiers within the DiAna application comprise several chapters and pages for different results presentations with a uniform filter bar. The reports and documents available to users for analysis contain complex input pages with over 20 different, sometimes hierarchical prompts. Via these prompts, the user can independently select the respective service areas and thus flexibly compile queries on the care spectrum of AOK insured persons, for which only limited IT knowledge is required. The application's underlying database is implemented in DB2 and currently contains approximately 65 TB of data (annual growth is approximately 650 GB of raw data). The application is currently based on MicroStrategy 2021. The MicroStrategy metadata resides in an Oracle database. The application is structured in a three-layer architecture, consisting of production, test and development environment. The contractor shall further develop the platform in coordination with the client. With regard to the planned extensions, reference is made to the service description.
